Dilutions
Getting to grips with dilutions. How much of one solution do I need to add to another to get the right concentration? What is a serial dilution?
An understanding of dilutions is critical if you are going to do science and work in a lab as they are used all the time, and if you get them wrong your experiments may not work, or you may misinterpret the results.
On this course we are going to look at:
- Why are dilutions important?
- Types of dilutions - standard, serial, ratio and experimental
- Do I need a standard dilution, or a serial dilution?
- Making up the right volume
Your Instructor

I have over 16 years of experience teaching on undergraduates biomedical science degrees, and I have worked as a research bioscientist for over 25 years.
Everyday I perform the types of calculations covered in the courses offered at Math4Biosciences, and through my teaching I know how, and where, students struggle with the maths they need to do to pass their classes and to carry out their research.
